I thought this would be to draw in casual viewers, but honestly if you exaplain it to anyone beyond "Four drivers go head to head for the title in the last race" (which is what NASCAR will inevitably brand it as) then they realize how stupid it is. I explained to a friend, who has never watched any car race before, that NASCAR was going to do 'playoffs' and the first thing he said was "why would you implement something built for 1v1 style sports into a series where everyone participates in every event?" He will probably never watch a race his whole life and he still gets it.
Maybe (hopefully) this is just another step towards IndyCar returning to #1 again.

I will keep watching (at least the last 20 laps) because the racing will generally be the same, but the Championship is just a farce to me.
Mclaren found a way to increase ground effects at low speeds via their suspension. We'll see if it survives a moveable aero protest.

I use to run a 5040x1050 display on a 8800 GT. IIRC it would run 80-100 FPS with little to no traffic in sight and it would dip down to ~40 FPS with a full grid.
That said, I also ran a GT 650M which can barely handle one of those monitors at 40 FPS.

No surprise there, they always mention the catering for the pit crews. Not nearly as bad as the barbeque specials in the Daytona 500 pre-race.

Daytona and Talladega will definitely be, ummm, interesting to say the least.
It takes them 2-3 laps to get up to speed, doesn't it? So what if someone wrecks on their second lap? The session gets red flagged and then they have to start from the pits with 3 minutes left. Then they might not even get a good lap in (Guess it's an even playing field for everyone, though).
Also, won't the order they line up in to start the session (assuming they are all going right out at the start) be critical to deciding who gets the fastest lap down?
